Large vintage Chirimen silk Furoshiki with Pine tree design ~ SOLD
Vintage Furoshiki wrapping cloth with Pine tree (Matsu) design on a gradient colored background, signed by the artist.
Crafted from Chirimen silk, a traditional Japanese silk fabric characterized by its distinctive bumpy, crimped surface texture known as Shibo. Supple yet durable, Chirimen silk drapes beautifully while retaining its strength. It comes in its original paulownia wooden box and remains in very good vintage condition, unused. Dating from around the 1980s.
A beautiful vintage find from Mitsukoshi department store, which is the oldest and most exclusive department store in Japan (founded in 1673).
Furoshiki
Can be used for gift wrapping, worn as a scarf or simply as a collectors piece of Japanese textile art. It is large in size, making it ideal for tying a bag.
