Vintage Chirimen silk Furoshiki – chrysanthemums & clouds
Vintage Furoshiki (wrapping cloth) with a design chrysanthemums and clouds on a background of soft yellow and beige tones.
The design features an arrangement of floating Kiku (chrysanthemums) in a palette of ruby, gold, and purple. The chrysanthemums (Kiku) are a Japanese royal symbol of longevity and elegance. The clouds have a delicate grid pattern mimicking the Shibori (tie-dyeing) technique.
Crafted from Chirimen silk, a traditional Japanese silk fabric characterized by its distinctive bumpy, crimped surface texture known as Shibo. Supple yet durable, Chirimen silk drapes beautifully while retaining its strength. It comes in its original Paulownia wooden box and remains in very good vintage condition.
Can be used for gift wrapping, worn as a scarf or simply as a collectors piece of Japanese textile art.
