This sturdy handmade Gunma Kokeshi doll is handmade by Japanese master Sumiya Kohji. Gunma prefecture is the top producing area of creative (Sosaku) Kokeshi in Japan. Gunma Kokeshi dolls often feature bobbed hair and a plump round body. Look at those beautiful flowers handcarved in the body, such a stylish design! It is a rare vintage find, a true gem. This special Kokeshi doll dates from the 80s and is in good vintage condition.
