Megumi – delicate, silk Kimono jacket with woven metallic threads
Now this is a one of a kind vintage find! I was so surprised noticing the small tag at the collar, realizing this is an original Haori (Kimono jacket) from Mitsukoshi. Which is the oldest and most exclusive department store in Japan, founded in 1673. I once visited the Kimono floor at Mitsukoshi, and I didn’t dare to touch anything, all pieces were so delicate and beautiful. This vintage Haori is unworn and in perfect condition, no stains at all. The soft, refined silk has a subtle light yellow to lightblue color gradient, decorated with wavy patterns in light golden, pink and silverblue metallic threads, this technique is called urushi. The silk lining is in yellow-beige with a flower and leave pattern. Megumi is a Japanese girl name meaning ‘elegance’.
