Tall lady in black kimono by Sato Suigai

This handmade vintage Kokeshi lady is by Japanese award winning master Sato Suigai (1920 – ), born in the northern Gunma prefecture, known as the top producing area of Kokeshi in creative style (Sosaku). This tall beautiful vintage lady wears a black kimono, the sakura flowers are carefully carved in the wood and hand painted in red and orange. The face and body show some dents, which gives this doll a characteristic vintage look. It is in good vintage condition.
