Traditional kokeshi set in Yamagata style
These Yamagata style kokeshi belong together, they are family! The small kokeshi is by master Kotaro Kobayashi (1936-), the high kokeshi doll was made by his cousin Seitaro Kobayashi (1926-2005), both sons of famous woodworkers in Muikamachi, Yamagata Prefecture. Yamagata kokeshi dolls are recognizable by the nose of two divergent stripes and the combination of red flowers and stripes on the body. Both dolls are dated around 1970-1980. They are in perfect vintage condition.
