Traditional wooden Kokeshi doll in Narugo style

This vintage Kokeshi is in traditional Narugo style, handmade and handpainted in Northern Japan. Narugo dolls have a straight-shaped body, slightly narrowed at the waist. They often have paintings of flowers, like iris (Ayame), peony (Botan) or chrysanthemum (Kiku). Narugo dolls are one of the most popular type among the traditional Kokeshi. This doll in in perfect vintage condition.
