Vintage Sakura Kokeshi by Miyashita Hajime
Hanami season has started, cherry blossoms are blooming everywhere. This vintage Gunma Kokeshi doll is handmade by Miyashita Hajime (1940 -) who won several awards for his Kokeshi. His career lasted from 1959 to 2006, when he decided to retire after his studio in Gunma Prefecture burned down. This Kokeshi has handcarved Sakura flowers on her darkred Kimono. Also note the subtle red collar and her cute face. The doll is in perfect vintage condition. A special vintage find from Japan, beautiful for your home.
