Traditional Nanbu kokeshi by master Matsumoto Tsuruji

This tall traditional Nanbu kokeshi is by master Matsumoto Tsuruji (born 1922), from Hanamaki region, Iwate prefecture. It is a so-called Matsuzuru-type kokeshi, dating from around 1975. The head can be slightly rotated. Pay special attention to the chrysanthemum pattern on the body, the sleek black-painted round hairline on top and the subtle smile on it’s face. This kokeshi is in good vintage condition, a wonderful addition to your interior!
