Kokeshi doll with red kimono

This handmade vintage Gunma Kokeshi doll is a rare vintage find. It could be attributed to master Kazuo Takamizawa, though the stamp (Hanko) is no longer clearly visible. Gunma prefecture is the top producing area of creative (Sosaku) Kokeshi in Japan. Gunma kokeshi dolls often feature bobbed hair and a plump round body. This lady wears a lovely red kimono with yellow flowers. The Kimono and hair have detailed carving. This Kokeshi is in good vintage condition. This doll probably dates from the 1970s.
