Set of two traditional Kijiyama kokeshi dolls
Happy I found these two vintage traditional Kijiyama kokeshi from master Ogura Kyutaro (1906-1998). Nice to have them as a set. These dolls are quite unique in their design and motif. They have a thin neck, the head and body are made of one piece of wood. The quite realistic expression on their faces, simple hairstyle and pattern on their bodies are Kijiyama style. The striped kimono of the smaller kokeshi has a stylized chrysanthemum design. The dolls are painted in black outlines with red and green accents, the beautiful wood grains are clearly visible. Both have the artist’s signature and description on the back. Sold as a set or separately. Both dolls are in perfect vintage condition.
