Elegant Kokeshi doll by Sato Suigai

This handmade vintage Kokeshi doll is by Japanese award winning master Sato Suigai (1920 – ). Born in the northern Gunma prefecture, the top producing area of Kokeshi in creative style (sosaku). This beautiful vintage lady wears a black kimono, the sakura flowers are carefully carved in the wood. Over the years the woodgrains on the head are discolored, which gives this doll an even more characteristic vintage look. It is in good vintage condition.
