Yamato – hand painted silk Kimono for men in blue grey
This vintage long men’s Kimono is officially worn as an under-Kimono (Juban). The Kimono is made of a blue grey crepe silk and has a gradient effect on the sleeves and a tie-dye wash at the bottom. The back has a hand-painted painting of a Japanese landscape, with some gold touches. Bob Ross would be jealous! It has a short lining of a silk blue fabric. The dark blue collar has been renewed. This Kimono has been worn but is in good vintage condition. The silk fabric is partly discolored in some places by sunlight, it has slight discoloration on the folds due to aging. A beautiful Kimono, also as a hanging object in your home.Yamato is a Japanese name for men which can be translates as ‘great harmony’.
Kimono for men are slightly different from those for women, they’re usually without pattern and mostly black. The lining, on the other hand, is always surprising and reveals a nice design or pattern. Wear it inside-out if you like! The sleeves of a men’s Kimono are attached to the Kimono, whereas the women’s Kimono sleeves are partly loose, they can swing around the body gracefully.
Off course men’s Kimono can also be worn by women, the shoulder width is slightly wider compared to the female Kimono/Haori. My model Leroy is 1.80 m tall and usually wears size Medium or Large. Any questions? Contact me!
