SAYA – antique silk black Haori with colorful lining
This beautiful antique black Haori dates from the 1930s. It’s hand-sewn from a soft silk with a subtle woven in Sayagata pattern combined with traditional floral motifs, the pattern reveals as the light hits the fabric. Sayagata is a traditional Japanese, geometric pattern of hooked crosses (Manji ) often connected by diagonal lines, it symbolizes dignity and longevity. And there’s a family crest (Kamon) stitched on the back.
The real surprise is on the inside: a light pink silk lining with a cheerful floral print. Catches glimpses of it at the sleeves when wearing, which adds such a lovely touch.
It’s in good condition, especially considering its age. There are just a few light aging stains on the lining, barely noticable.
The fit of most antique Haori are slightly smaller. It will be best suited for a European size S to M.
