Sō – Vintage yellow Noren curtain ~ SOLD
Vintage Noren curtain made from sturdy yellow cotton with a calligraphy print in bright white. The kanji 爽 (Sō) means “refreshing, clear and bright”. This Japanese character expresses the feeling of crisp weather, a clear mind and an open straightforward personality.
As a graphic designer, I instantly fell in love when I found this Noren. It has a clean, modern look with an authentic Japanese character. Hang it as a room divider in a doorway or hallway, or display it as a colourful textile on your wall.
Comes with its original box, covered in handmade paper, as well as the original insert featuring a Japanese text explaining the Sō expression. This Noren is in excellent condition and appears to have never been used, dating back from the 1980s.
To hang a Japanese Noren: slide a tension rod or a wooden rod through the fabric sleeve at the top. You can also attach it to a wooden door frame using a few small pins. A rod and pins are not included.
