Vintage Japanese Kakejiku – Cranes on a pine tree
Large size vintage Japanese Kakejiku (hanging scroll) featuring two graceful red-crowned cranes on a pine tree on silk fabric. In Japan, the Tsuru crane is a beloved symbol of longevity, happiness and good fortune.
The artwork has a beautiful matte finish and is mounted with decorative Japanese Kinran damask silk borders. It features a sturdy bottom rod to keep it hanging straight and has been restored at the top. Overall, it remains in good vintage condition and can easily be rolled up for storage. Dates from around the 1970s.
I cannot say with certainty whether this is an original painting, since I see no typical print pattern. To be on the safe side, I offer it as a high-quality reproduction, possibly produced using traditional Kogei printing techniques. The moiré stripes visible in slide 4 are caused by my camera and are not present in the actual work.
A beautiful piece of Japanese wall art, perfect for collectors or as a gift.
