Tall, heavy vintage Naruko Kokeshi set by Goto Akira and Ozawa Takao
Set of two vintage Naruko Kokeshi dolls, crafted by Japanese artisans. The smaller doll, created by Ozawa Takao (1937 – 1992). Trained under the renowned Onuma Jun, Takao’s work is known for its gentle expression, and refined details. This doll is a perfect example of Naruko elegance.
The larger doll is handcrafted by Goto Akira (1935 – 2015), it is dated February 22, 1976 as seen on the bottom. Akira was one of the most respected Kokeshi masters in Naruko and the recipient of the highest honor at the 55th National Kokeshi Festival. This tall and heavy doll is a stunning representation of his lifetime dedication to the craft.

• Crafted from mizuki (dogwood) wood with a rounded head and cylindrical body.
• Hand-painted with traditional floral motifs in deep red and green.
