Vintage Chirimen silk Furoshiki – Pinetree Matsu
A vintage silk Furoshiki crafted from Chirimen silk, a traditional Japanese silk fabric characterized by its distinctive bumpy, crimped surface texture known as Shibo. Supple yet durable, Chirimen silk drapes beautifully while retaining its strength, making it ideal for both practical and decorative use.
It features a pine tree on a light yellow background. In Japanese culture, the pine tree (Matsu) holds deep symbolic meaning, it stands for longevity and resilience. Because pine trees stay green throughout the year and can live for centuries, they symbolize eternal youth and long life. This Furoshiki comes in its original Paulownia wooden box and remains in good vintage condition, showing only some minor stains from long-term storage. There is a signature in white on the left bottom.
Can be used for gift wrapping, worn as a scarf or simply admired as a collectible work of Japanese textile art.
