Stunning vintage Gunma Kokeshi by Kazuo Takamizawa

Take a look at this stunning vintage Gunma Kokeshi doll made by master Kazuo Takamizawa (1927 – ). Gunma Kokeshi dolls often have black bobbed hair and a round body. The green Kimono is beautifully and subtly carved in the wooden body, with engraved Kiku flowers, hand-painted in a golden color. The Kiku represents the Imperial throne of Japan and is also featured in more than 150 family crests, mainly used by noble families. The Kiku symbol represents longevity and happiness. Also note the red collar and the subtle blushes on her cheeks. There is a small discoloration on the front of the hair, the doll is in good vintage condition. Truly a vintage pearl from Japan for your interior.
