Vintage clay doll of a Japanese girl combing her hair. Hakata clay dolls are handmade from sturdy unglazed clay and slowly fired from low to high temperature (biscuit-fired), giving it that nice, matte surface. Hakata dolls are traditional dolls made in Fukuoka, Kyushu (previously named Hakata city), This doll is hand-painted and dates from the 1970s, she is in good vintage condition. Isn’t she cute?
