Vintage Japanese doll handmade in Kimekomi technique. This boy wears traditional Japanese clothing in beige gold and soft green brocade silk with beautiful woven motifs. He has a cute refined face, also note the foot on the back and the nice colored details on the bottom. This doll is in perfect vintage condition. A beautiful vintage find from Japan for your home.

The body of a Kimekomi doll is made of ‘toso‘, a paulownia wood sawdust mixed with wheat starch paste, after which it is artfully covered with various silk brocade fabrics. The head is made of bisque clay covered with a top layer of ‘gofun‘ (crashed oyster shell). Read more about this special Kimekomi technique on my About page.
