Usaburo Gunma Kokeshi – Kantsubaki (Winter camellia)
Handmade vintage Kokeshi by Japanese award-winning master Okamoto Usaburo (1917-2009), born in the northern Gunma prefecture. Gunma is known as the top producing area of Kokeshi in the creative (Sosaku) style, famous for its bob haircut, large body and special carved prints and burned lines. This design is named Kantsubaki (Winter camellia), it is made of Mizuki and Zelkova wood. This vintage Kokeshi wears a kimono, with a refined burned and hand-painted design. It is in perfect condition.
