Antique lacquerware SAKAZUKI Sake cup set – Lucky Gods
A charming set of three antique Japanese Sakazuki (sake cups), made from wood and finished in traditional red lacquer, with hand-painted figures and gold details.
Each cup features a different deity from the Seven Lucky Gods Shichifukujin, a popular group of Japanese deities associated with good fortune, happiness and prosperity:
Daikokuten (god of wealth, prosperity and good fortune)
Ebisu (god of fishing, food and prosperity)
Hotei (the cheerful, round-bellied god of happiness)
They have some signs of age, including a few tiny chips along the edges, but are otherwise in good condition for their very old age.
I recommend using these mainly as decorative pieces, to preserve the beautiful antique lacquer work.
A lovely set for lovers of Japanese antiques, traditional crafts and old Japan.
