Kin – Stylish Haori handmade of ocher-gold Meisen silk
Stylish vintage Haori (kimono jacket) from Japan. It is hand-sewn from high-quality soft Meisen silk in a ocher-gold color. Meisen silk is known for its beautiful graphic designs and the slight sheen that subtly changes color due to the reflection of light. Because Meisen silk was tightly spun, with many more twists per unit length, it usually feels a little stiffer, although this Haori has a very soft and supple surface.
The Meisen Kimono emerged in the Taisho period (1912-1926) with large, bold and colorful designs inspired by Western modernist art, it changed the style of Kimono in Japan. In the following years until the 1950s, the Meisen Kimono was THE Kimono of the modern, independent Japanese woman. This vintage find can be worn both chic and casual. The lining is decorated with a colorful orange roses. This beauty is in perfect condition. It dates from around the 1940s. Kin means ‘gold’ in Japanese.
