UME – vintage silk Furisode Kimono with plum blossom design in pastel shades
This beautiful vintage Furisode Kimono is one of those pieces I personally love. Not only to wear, but even more as wall art. As a collector’s piece of vintage Japanese Kimono art, it’s perfect for interior display and a striking example of traditional Japanese textile craftsmanship. For any lover of Japan or fine textiles.
This Furisode Kimono is hand-sewn from supple, super-soft silk, with a wonderful lightness and graceful drape. It is decorated and handprinted with a traditional plum blossom (Ume) motif in softly graduating pastel shades. In Japanese culture, the plum blossom symbolizes strength and endurance, as it is the first flower to bloom each year.
While traditionally worn as a formal kimono, this Furisode can also be styled as a romantic dress or open robe. It is a true showstopper and a timeless work of art.
Furisode Kimonos have long, graceful sleeves and are traditionally worn by young, unmarried women in Japan during the Coming of Age Ceremony (Seijin no Hi), which is held each year on the second Monday of January, to celebrate the transition into adulthood.
• This Kimono features a full white silk lining with orange-red gradient edges.
• A family crest (Kamon) is embroidered on the back.
• The interior buttons can be used to easily fold the collar to half width.
• In very good condition
This timeless Wall & Wear piece beautifully showcases Japanese craftsmanship and tradition.
