Vintage Chirimen silk Furoshiki with yellow orchids
Vintage Furoshiki (wrapping cloth) with a design of yellow Cattleya orchids on a sage green background. It has the original signature of the artist Masanobu Matsuoka.
Masanobu Matsuoka (1930) is a renowned Japanese painter and textile artist, he is widely celebrated for his premium Furoshiki designs. One of his most iconic Furoshiki motifs is the Cattleya, an elegant variety of orchid.
Crafted from Chirimen silk, a traditional Japanese silk fabric characterized by its distinctive bumpy, crimped surface texture known as Shibo. Supple yet durable, Chirimen silk drapes beautifully while retaining its strength. It comes in its original Paulownia wooden box and remains in very good vintage condition.
Can be used for gift wrapping, worn as a scarf or simply as a collectors piece of Japanese textile art.
