Vintage Japanese Maki-e lacquerware bowls set
This elegant set of four vintage Japanese Maki-e lacquerware bowls showcases traditional craftsmanship. Made of wood and finished with layers of natural Urushi lacquer, the bowls have a deep dark brown base color. The lids are adorned with intricate gold motifs of cranes and a red-golden sun, traditional symbols of longevity and good fortune in Japanese culture.
Crafted between the 1950s and 1960s, these bowls feature the Maki-e technique, a centuries-old Japanese art form in which powdered gold is carefully applied to wet lacquer, creating a shimmering, detailed finish. Ideal for serving soup, snacks, or sweets, or simply as a decorative display, this set brings a refined, authentic Japanese aesthetic to any space. In very good vintage condition.
