Gunma Kokeshi doll by Kisaku

Handmade Gunma Kokeshi doll, this cute one is by Japanese master Kisaku. Gunma prefecture is the top producing area of creative (Sosaku) Kokeshi in Japan. Gunma Kokeshi dolls often feature bobbed hair and a plump round body. This Kokeshi is wearing a Kimono of which the outlines are manually burnt and the inner parts are handpainted. This doll dates from around the 80s and is in good vintage condition beside some small scratches on the head.
